I've noticed that many of the BAAPS surgeons who are listed on their website don't all have the same letters after their name. It's understandable that they will all have slightly different levels of training, but does it mean that the ABSENCE of 'MB BS' means they never passed their degree course? Surely if they did pass, they would all proudly display these letters after their name? Follow this link to see all the different letters and what they mean: www.eastcambs-pcg.nhs.uk/directories/medical-qualifications.htmlMB BS means 'Bachelor of Medicine AND Bachelor of Surgery'. This is a degree course which includes extensive training for students and shadowing of GP's and surgeons in the NHS. NOW, let's assume that some of the surgeons don't manage to pass this programme, they can still be a Fellow of the Royal College Of Surgeons, and also BAAPS it would appear. So my question is, should we be choosing a surgeon who is not only on BAAPS, but who also has MB BS FRCS after their name? I'd be interested to hear all your views. Brian
