Hello All,
I'm searching for a rhinoplasty specialist in Southern California.
I want my tip refined. Three docs who have consulted with me via email/digital photos say my surgery would be "straight forward." While this is reassuring, it also seems that tip refinement can require more skill and experience.
I'm consulting with Drs. Keyes (LA) and Olesen (La Jolla) and am considering one or two others. I haven't found any info on the any boards (yet) re these docs. I don't necessarily consider that to be a bad thing. The boards I've come across have discussed many of the same docs--which isn't a large number. Does anyone have any recommendation and/or personal experience, particularly for tip refinement?
Thanks!

Tips are very difficult because the end result can vary based on skin thickness and healing flexibility. I had a nosejob some 8 years ago and my tip is still not refined as I would like. It looks fine when I don't smile but looks mishapen when I do. People have told me that I don't smile a lot, I think that subconsciously I may not smile much is because of this.
A lot of doctors are capable and skillful but Remember, everyone wants your business. I think this is why most doctors "don't know" the prices of their procedures; they want to keep the financial motivation of their work away from the patient. I bet they know exactly what their car payment is.
Just try to make the best decision you can. Research, ask questions, and try to find a picture of what you want. You came to the right place, I didn't have this option years ago.

Thanks for your response. After all of my research, I found that tip refinement can be tricky. You said your nose changes when you smile. Are you happy with the overall results? The changes I want will be fairly subtle. What was the case with your nose? Do you know who you would go to now given what you've learned?

Agree tip refinement is probably the trickiest part of rhinoplasty. If you must take a chance one name to consider in S. Ca. is Kanodia. If you can get past his impatience and "I know it all " attitude his skills might serve you in the long run. If you need drastic changes stay away from Kanodia. Nassif is spoken highly of these days on health boards but I cannot personally vouch for his tip skills. Another name that comes to mind is Mayer. Nassif has the best bedside manners of all. All three have their offices within a couple blocks of each other in Beverly Hills. Yes, you guesssed it right, they are expensive with Kanodia topping the list. Good luck.
